‘Tell the Story Every Way You Can’: Bess Wohl on ‘Camp Siegfried’

How a real-life pro-Nazi summer camp on Long Island inspired a “deeply American play” about seduction.

The chef, author and actress, whose children’s book, “Seasons of Splendour,” was reissued this month, refuses to be boxed in.

He’s playing New York’s own Caesar, Robert Moses, in a stage production at the Shed.

She and her sister Carly Simon were a folk duo in the 1960s. Years later, she wrote the Tony-nominated music for “The Secret Garden.”

The show, now in London, has a creative team that combines veterans of the film with some Broadway stalwarts. Performances will begin on June 30.
