Lawyers for Mark Meadows, one of several defendants trying to move the case from state to federal court, were making their arguments to a federal judge in Atlanta on Monday.
Several of Mr. Trump’s co-defendants in the state racketeering case over election interference are seeking to have the matter transferred to federal court or dismissed entirely.
The lawyers said the extraordinary delay was needed given the historic nature of the case and the volume of discovery materials they will have to sort through in the coming months.
