Daniel Snyder will pay $60 million in restitution after a league investigation found that he sexually harassed a female employee and improperly withheld revenue when he owned the Washington Commanders.
Josh Harris will buy the Washington franchise for a record $6.05 billion from Snyder, who faced sexual harassment allegations, decades of losing and public pressure to change the team’s name and logo.
The embattled N.F.L. owner had reached a $6 billion deal in April with a group led by Harris but continued to seek higher bids. The franchise’s sale could be approved by the league at the end of this month.
Snyder’s fellow N.F.L. owners gave him every opportunity to restore the Washington franchise to respectability. He passed. Now he is giving them what they want most: his departure.
