A top military officer suspected of ordering the killing of at least six of the students who disappeared in 2014 has been arrested, the latest in a string of high-profile arrests.
Genetic genealogy was used to identify skeletal remains as those of a 15-year-old girl who went missing in Florida in 1972. The authorities believe she was the victim of an ex-police officer convicted in 1973 of two murders.
The child died from asphyxiation at a Pentecostal church in San Jose, Calif., as her mother, uncle and grandfather tried to expel what they believed was an “evil spirit,” the authorities said.
