Columbia, Cooper Union, Cornell and University of Pennsylvania were among half a dozen universities under investigation for harassment complaints on campus.
Shots were fired during a dispute involving three men in Holyoke, Mass., on Wednesday afternoon, the authorities said. The suspects were taken to hospitals and are in custody.
