For her latest program at the Joyce Theater, the one-of-a-kind choreographer showcases two new dances, along with a revival of “Ocean’s Motion.”

Hope Boykin radiated generosity and joy as a performer. As a choreographer and director, she is showing the struggle the audience couldn’t see.

The choreographer has long taught company class. It’s part of what makes his distinctly individual dancers seem so natural — and coherent as a group.

The dancer, also known as HallowDreamz, is the face of krump in New York. Now he’s found another artistic home with the choreographer Andrea Miller.

After a few slow, sad years, the dance calendar returned to something like abundance, with standout shows that leaned into joy and community.
