Judge Aileen Cannon postponed a hearing on a government request involving a lawyer for one of the former president’s co-defendants. She said prosecutors were wasting her time.
The former president did not appear in person for a second arraignment in the case after an updated indictment last month, and he indicated last week that he would plead not guilty.
In the first hearing before Judge Aileen M. Cannon, the two sides are expected to spar over a trial date and the procedures for handling national security secrets.
If Judge Aileen Cannon sticks to her initial decision to hold the trial in Fort Pierce, Fla., the jury would be drawn largely from counties that Donald Trump won handily in his previous campaigns.
