The judge’s ruling in Donald J. Trump’s civil fraud case could cost him all his available cash. It also bars the former president from running a business in the state for three years.
The former president’s lawyer said he could not abide by limitations set by the judge in the civil fraud case. “I will not hesitate to cut him off,” wrote Justice Arthur F. Engoron.
The penalty was well over the $250 million that the attorney general, Letitia James, had estimated in the fall of 2022, when she sued the former president.
