Security firms hired by DocGo, a medical services firm that was given a $432 million no-bid migrant services contract by New York City, used unauthorized guards.
Migrants have said the contractor, DocGo, which was hired by New York City, misled and mistreated them. The police are investigating whether the company improperly interfered in two sexual assault investigations.
The letter, responding to New York City’s list of demands for state help, said the city had already rebuffed some of the state’s offers and had been slow to help migrants.
As newcomers continue to arrive in the hundreds each week, the city tripled its estimate for how much it will cost to house them and provide other services.
