The choreographer has long taught company class. It’s part of what makes his distinctly individual dancers seem so natural — and coherent as a group.

The polka chinata, in which two men whirl together in a crouch, is revived in a dance by Alessandro Sciarroni, coming to PS21 in Chatham, N.Y.

Throughout the 21-minute arc of “Divine Generations,” a silent four-person ensemble pulls cords around the room, coaxing inert discs into motion.

“One Dance,” part of Korean Arts Week at Lincoln Center, puts a contemporary spin on rituals and ceremonies.

Cassandra Trenary, an American Ballet Theater principal dancer, pulls classical dance into the present through the drama of being real.
