Don’t sabotage New York’s congestion charge.

In its complaint, the state said it was challenging the Federal Highway Administration’s “decision to rubber-stamp” its approval of the plan.

The tolls will mostly be collected electronically through the E-ZPass system, and drivers should expect penalties for late payments.

The program, which could begin next year, would charge drivers to enter Midtown Manhattan, with the revenues going to improve mass transit.

Tension between the city and its surrounding areas over issues like crime, immigration and congestion pricing has grown since the pandemic.
