Why Sea Turtles Are Washing Up on New York’s Beaches

At New York State’s only sea turtle rehabilitation center, workers are nursing a record number of sick patients back to health.

The storm is expected to interrupt travel plans across the country and possibly bring down power lines, forecasters said.

More than 33,000 customers did not have power on Sunday evening. Officials said downed trees and power lines were responsible for persistent outages.

The air temperatures at the region’s highest peak went as low as minus 47 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
