A new charge of evidence tampering was announced as a departing investigator accused the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office of “reprehensible and unprofessional” conduct.
Mr. Baldwin had been charged with involuntary manslaughter after the gun he was practicing with went off on set, killing the film’s cinematographer. The film’s armorer still faces charges.
Andrea Reeb, part of the team that charged Alec Baldwin with manslaughter, wrote in an email in June that the case could help her campaign for the state legislature.
Andrea Reeb, who was working with the Santa Fe district attorney, is also a New Mexico legislator. Alec Baldwin’s lawyers had argued that her dual roles violated the State Constitution.
